After more than two months since its release date, my short story Eros, My Love is finally available in e-book on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. I’ve added the buy links on the Books page. I contacted Rachel and Lori at Parajunkee to schedule a review tour with different book blogs. It will be my first book tour. My publisher informed me today that my third short story Love Addiction will be released in May. I don’t have an exact date yet.
…for outside distribution of Eros, My Love at various retailers. It’s been 15 business days since it’s release on Feb. 15th and the e-book is still not sold at Amazon, B&N, or anywhere else other than Cobblestone Press’ website. I sent an e-mail to my publisher last Thursday and asked for a status on the outside distribution. I haven’t heard back from them yet. Hopefully, it will be distributed this week.
So far, the e-book is only sold on my publisher’s website. I was told it could take up to 15 business days to show up on retail sites like Amazon and Barnes & Noble. I’ll keep checking and update the Books page when I see the book pop up in more places. I put my reviews back up for the 1st edition. Didn’t want the positive feedback to go to waste. I’ll be querying a few other book reviewers, and hopefully I can add more positive ones to the list.
Some of you may have noticed that the model on the new cover doesn’t look anything like the model on the first cover. That’s because Eros isn’t a platinum blond anymore. Due to an error by the cover artist, I had to change Eros’ physical description in the story so there wouldn’t be an inaccuracy on the cover. By the time I was shown the cover, it was too late to fix it because of the tight publication schedule. So, Eros is a brunette this time around.
Cobblestone Press will be re-releasing my short story Eros, My Love in e-book on February 15th. I can’t wait to put the story back out there. I really hope sales are better the second time around. I’m still waiting on news about the cover.
Well, my PDF on Box has been removed. I noticed some people took it upon themselves to upload it on file share sites without my permission. I remember first seeing my PDF a long time ago on Share Term Papers and I let it go, but I recently found it on more sites. It’s bad enough I have to deal with people uploading A Rose to the Fallen without my permission and taking money out of my pocket, but when people do it for a story that’s ALREADY FREE and without my permission, well…that just snaps my final nerve. To add to my frustration with the unauthorized uploads, Box was messing with my PDF by distorting the true download count. I was using their site to help me track downloads. They said their engineers were doing some “testing” with download notifications for people who reported issues in the past. I reported an issue I had with the file a long time ago and they never fixed it. Mind you, they told me this AFTER the fact. They didn’t warn me first or say they would be reopening my closed ticket. I have since deleted my account. As a result of my actions, I have updated by Bio, Books, and FAQ pages.
Update 8/26 – I looked back at my submissions list for Eros, My Love, and Decadent Publishing was one of the publishers that had rejected it. I contacted them again today and withdrew my recent submission. I think one rejection is enough. So, on 9/18, I will be removing the book from my site as I originally planned.
Update 8/25 – I sent a query letter to Decadent Publishing to see if they’d be interested in publishing Eros, My Love. They are the publisher for my other short story, Right Here, Right Now. I hope they decide to give Eros & Gabby a new home.
I received an email today from Summerhouse Publishing releasing publishing rights to me for Eros, My Love. My short story was up for contract renewal, but was rejected probably due to low sale numbers. I didn’t ask them for a reason because honestly I don’t care. Effective 9/18/2012, the e-book will no longer be available on their site or other retailers. I won’t be trying to get it published through another publisher, so next month I’ll remove the book from my site.
I’m not kidding. Enough people have asked and some have even begged. The demand for the full story was on deviantART after sharing a few excerpts and artwork. I never thought that would happen. The manuscript only has one chance of being published anyway, and it’s slim to none. Not to mention, I’m tired of rejecting people who really want to read my story, especially knowing it might not ever get published. You might be confused why I’m letting people read it for free rather than self-publish it. I meant it when I said I’d never self-publish again and this isn’t the first time I’ve shared it for free. It began as a free story on FictionPress in 2009. So, if you want to read The Howling Heart, there is a download link to the PDF on the Books page. All I ask is if you like the story, spread the word. I’ve either done a really wise thing or a very foolish one. Regardless, I made a decision.
Actually, it was available yesterday. I had added buy links on the Books page from some retailers like Amazon that were selling my e-book a day early. I may update the links as I see other retailers selling it. It’s not on Barnes & Noble yet, but I’m keeping an eye out. Right Here, Right Now is my second published short story and it’s part of Decadent Publishing’s 1 Night Stand series. I’m thrilled that both of my short stories were acquired by e-publishers and I didn’t have to self-publish them—not that I would have. I’m never self-publishing again. Now, all I have left to get published is The Howling Heart.
My second short story Right Here, Right Now will be released in e-book by Decadent Publishing this Friday. It’s my first contemporary romance. In the 7 years I’ve been writing stories, I’ve never written a 100% contemporary romance. Usually I prefer to add fantasy or paranormal with my romance. I’ll be updating the Books page soon with a story excerpt and the retailer links.
The e-book version is on sale at the Google ebookstore, Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Google is selling it the cheapest for $3.03, and Amazon and B&N are selling it for $3.19. The retail price is $9.99. Take advantage of the low price if you haven’t read the book yet!
