Amazon announced the 2,000 entries that made it to the 2nd round of the Breakthrough Novel Award contest. Unfortunately, The Howling Heart didn’t make it. I’m not upset because I only entered the contest for fun and I didn’t expect to make it to the 2nd round, especially with the graphic sexual content in the story. I wasn’t going to edit those scenes out and turn it into a Young Adult novel. I don’t write YA. Anyway, congrats to the authors who made it through.

I submitted The Howling Heart into the 2010 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest. I did it just for kicks. I don’t expect to win, but maybe someone will take notice and like the story. Since I don’t get many reviews on FictionPress (I don’t know why), I think the story could use more exposure. Publishers Weekly will be reviewing the manuscripts that go onto the semi-finalists round in April. If anyone has a finished manuscript, I encourage you to enter too. Hey, it can’t hurt. Read more »
